Deyon Blake has been building out his garage in Shepparton, Victoria over several years, documenting the process along the way on the Garage Journal forum and his DFB's Garage YouTube channel. This time, he's sharing how the Maxim HD 48" 8 Drawer Roll Cabinet fits into his setup.
"My garage is a haven, a place used to detail cars and work on small engine equipment. After discovering Maxim cabinets a few years ago, over time I've been gradually adding more and more to improve functionality and organisation.
I'm the sort of person who likes having a place for everything and everything in its place, and the Maxim cabinets allow me to do that."
A cabinet and a workbench in one
The 48" 8 Drawer Roll Cabinet was added to solve two problems at once: somewhere to keep a growing tool collection, and a small work surface next to his wall-mounted pressure washer.
"The Maxim HD 48" 8 Drawer Roll Cabinet was purchased to neatly house a growing collection of tools and provide a small work bench next to my wall mounted pressure washer.
The 8 drawers house an assortment of hand tools, from screwdrivers to drill bits, files to wrenches, measuring tools to pressure washer fittings. I also have drawers dedicated to fasteners and zip ties. In some cases, I've also used Stealth Tool Trays to further organise the collection.
On the left side of the unit, there is a two-level cabinet to store bulkier items such as jack stands, parts trays, assorted fasteners and hardware."
Static, but built to move if needed
"For me, this cabinet is static, however it's nice having the option to move it about via the heavy duty 5-inch castors should I need. The drawer liners are a nice touch too.
I also like the fact you can choose drawer configuration and bench top materials. In my case, I chose the 8-drawer unit with the stainless steel bench top. However, there is also a 4-drawer version, and both are available with stainless steel and hardwood bench tops."
The verdict
"Overall, I couldn't be happier with this cabinet, easily the most used in my garage."
